Intermountain Medical Center

Project Description
The Intermountain Medical Center is a 468-bed flagship medical center for the Intermountain Healthcare system; it consolidated services to a single campus that were once dispersed throughout the urban region. Built on a 110-acre campus, centrally located in the Salt Lake Valley, IMC is the largest hospital in the Intermountain West; it serves as the major adult referral center for six surrounding states and more than 75 regional health care institutions.
The organizational concept for the project is the creation of five institute centers of excellence, each housed in their own building, anchoring the campus with physician office space dispensed throughout. Each institute has separate growth zones allowing for future additions to supplement the state of the art services for years to come. Each section of the hospital has a distinct identity and service to better facilitate the patient experience as well as maximize the efficiency of care. The large campus has extensive infrastructure, including a central utility plant with three chillers, three boilers, and a four-cell cooling tower as well as infrastructure for a fourth chiller and boiler. A 1,700’ long 12’ wide by 10’ high precast utility tunnel connects the plant with each building. What Our Clients Are Saying
