Salt Lake City, UT
Project Description
The UP Depot was originally built in 1908 is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. In 2001 Okland restored, renovated and seismically upgraded the 55,540sf facility into a grand ballroom, restaurant, retail and office space.
Okland was brought back to bring modern amenities into the historic Depot, as well as construct the Asher Adams Hotel Addition. With 225 rooms, including 26 suites and 13 historic suites within the original train depot, the 140,000sf hotel provides guests with a luxurious and comfortable stay. Featured amenities include a bar, restaurant, fitness center, gift shop, and versatile meeting and function spaces. The 48,500sf adaptive reuse portion of the project maximizes the space of the former train station while preserving its iconic architectural elements, creating a seamless fusion of the old and new.
