LDS Beehive and Lion Houses Renovation
Salt Lake City, UT
Project Description
The Beehive House and Lion House served as the main residence of Brigham Young and his family soon after arriving in the Salt Lake Valley. The complex is registered with the National Historic Landmark Association. Restorations to the buildings were taken with great care during a five-year construction duration. The existing structure was photographed and extensively studied. Structurally weakened areas of the building were carefully demolished and retrofitted. All millwork, such as casing, stairs, balustrade, mantels, antique flooring, wood structural beams and other details in need of replacement, were reproduced to the original profiles using customized hand tools and original construction methods.
