PROJECTS    SPORTS / EVENTS    UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SPENCE ECCLES FIELD HOUSE
University of Utah Spence Eccles Field House
Salt Lake City, UT
Project Description
The fieldhouse is a 75,000sf indoor practice venue built for various University of Utah sports teams for training in inclement weather. The floor of the facility’s practice area is a synthetic surface that looks, feels, and plays like natural grass. The practice field volume also contains storage areas for athletic equipment and video platforms at thirty (30) feet above the playing field. The annex area to the north of the practice field includes restrooms, a first aid/taping area, and an exhibit area that contains a mini-theater showing classic sports highlights and memorabilia from numerous Ute sports legends over their storied history. Okland Construction worked closely with the entire design-build team to complete the structure within an extremely fast-paced schedule of five months from beginning of design to end of construction.
